Privacy policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
Hobby Streak Ltd ("Hobby Streak", "we", "us", "our") is a company registered in England and Wales. We publish and operate the Hobby Streak mobile application (the "App") for iOS and Android.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect from you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to everyone who downloads or uses the App. The Website and beta waitlist addendum also covers this website and the public beta waitlist.
If you have any questions about this Policy or how we handle your data, contact us at privacy@hobbystreak.co.uk.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Hobby Streak Ltd is the "data controller" of the personal data described in this Policy for the purposes of UK GDPR and, where applicable, the EU GDPR.
- Company: Hobby Streak Ltd
- Registered in: England and Wales
- Contact: privacy@hobbystreak.co.uk
We do not currently have a statutory Data Protection Officer, as we are not required to appoint one, but the contact above will handle all privacy queries and requests.
2. What Hobby Streak does
Hobby Streak is a hobby-tracking app aimed at miniature and tabletop hobbyists. It helps you:
- Track your "backlog" (pile of shame) of miniatures and projects
- Log hobby sessions using a built-in timer
- Record and update progress on individual models and projects
- Build a personal collection using a library of official models and paints, or your own manually entered items
- Join optional "Hobby Groups" with other users
- Share progress images, streak completions, and challenge achievements
3. Personal data we collect
We collect the minimum amount of personal data needed to run the App. This includes:
3.1 Account data
- Email address (used for login and account recovery)
- Password (stored in encrypted/hashed form — we never see your plain-text password)
- Your Hobby Streak username (a unique, user-chosen identifier)
- Display name(s) you choose within specific Hobby Groups, which may differ from your main username
3.2 Content you provide
- Your miniature and project collection data (models, paints, manually entered items, progress notes and status updates)
- Hobby session data (timers, durations, dates)
- Photos you choose to upload (e.g., of your models, progress shots, or shared achievement images)
- Streak and challenge history
- Hobby Group membership, invites accepted/declined, and group-specific display names
3.3 Analytics and usage data
We use PostHog and Google Analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve it. By default, this data is collected in anonymised or pseudonymised form — meaning it is not tied back to your name, email, or account by default.
You can opt in to allow user-identifiable analytics data (e.g., linking analytics events to your account), which helps us provide more personalised support and insights. This is off by default and can be changed at any time in the App's settings.
Usage/analytics data may include:
- App interactions (screens viewed, features used, buttons tapped)
- Device type, operating system and version
- General diagnostic and performance data
- Approximate/aggregated usage patterns
3.4 Data we do not currently collect
- We do not collect or store any biometric data. (Biometric-based sign-in, such as Face ID/Touch ID/fingerprint unlock, is a planned future feature — if introduced, this Policy will be updated first, and any biometric authentication will be processed on your device and will not be transmitted to us.)
- We do not currently use advertising, so we do not collect data for ad targeting.
- We do not currently use crash-reporting tools. (This is planned for the future — see Section 10.)
4. How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide the core App functionality (backlog tracking, timers, progress logging, collection library)
- Enable optional social features (Hobby Groups, sharing achievements)
- Understand how the App is used, fix bugs, and improve features (via PostHog/Google Analytics)
- Communicate with you about your account or important service updates
- Maintain the security and integrity of the App
- Comply with our legal obligations
Legal basis for processing (UK/EU GDPR)
- Performance of a contract — to provide the App and features you've signed up for (account data, content you create)
- Legitimate interests — to keep the App secure, understand usage, and improve our product (default anonymised analytics)
- Consent — where you opt in to identifiable analytics, biometric features (when introduced), or marketing communications (if any are introduced in future)
5. Third-party services we use
We share limited data with the following categories of service providers, who process it on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog | Product analytics | Anonymised usage events by default; identifiable data only if you opt in |
| Google Analytics | Product/usage analytics | Anonymised usage and device data by default; identifiable data only if you opt in |
| Bluehost (hosting) | Hosting of app data and user-uploaded content (e.g., photos) on servers located in the United States | Account data, collection/content data, uploaded photos |
| Stripe (planned) | Payment processing for future paid features/subscriptions | Payment details will be handled directly by Stripe; we will not store full card details ourselves |
We do not sell, rent, or otherwise trade your personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes, and we have no plans to do so.
As the App evolves, we may add advertising networks, crash-reporting tools (e.g., for stability monitoring), or other service providers. If we do, we will update this Policy and this table before those integrations go live.
6. International data transfers
Our hosting provider (Bluehost) currently stores data on servers located in the United States. If you are located in the UK or EU, this means your personal data is transferred outside the UK/EEA.
Where we transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection, including through the use of Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or equivalent safeguards required by law. Hosting arrangements may change in the future; if so, we will update this section.
7. Hobby Groups and social features
Hobby Streak includes an optional social feature called Hobby Groups:
- Group membership is invite-only — there is no automatic enrolment into any group.
- You can accept or decline invitations to join a group.
- Within a group, you may set a group-specific username/display name, which can be different from your main account username.
- Hobby Streak does not currently include any direct chat or messaging functionality between users.
- You can share progress images, streak completions, and challenge successes, either within a group or (depending on the feature) more widely. Anything you choose to share may be visible to other users of that group or feature — please consider this before sharing personal images or information.
8. Children's privacy
Hobby Streak is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@hobbystreak.co.uk.
9. Data retention and deletion
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active, and for as long as is reasonably necessary to provide the App and maintain your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from within the App.
- When you delete your account, your personal data will either be permanently deleted or anonymised, so that it can no longer identify you, except where we are required to retain limited information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or accounting purposes.
- Anonymised or aggregated data (which no longer identifies you) may be retained indefinitely for analytics and product improvement purposes.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypting passwords and restricting access to personal data to those who need it to operate the App. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We plan to introduce crash-reporting and diagnostic tools in the future to help us detect and fix issues more quickly; this Policy will be updated to reflect any new tools before they are introduced.
11. Your rights
If you are located in the UK, EU, or certain other regions, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your data (see Section 9 — this can also be done in-App)
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including analytics processing based on legitimate interests
- Data portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (e.g., identifiable analytics opt-in)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@hobbystreak.co.uk. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
If you are in the UK and are unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. If you are in the EU, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
Additional notes for US users
We do not sell or share personal data for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not currently have plans to. If this changes in the future, we will update this Policy and provide any required opt-out mechanisms (e.g., under CCPA/CPRA or similar state laws).
12. Future changes to data practices
Hobby Streak is under active development. Some features referenced in this Policy are planned but not yet live, including:
- Biometric sign-in (processed on-device)
- Advertising
- Crash/diagnostic reporting tools
- Stripe payment processing for paid features
Before any of these (or other features that materially change how we handle personal data) go live, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required by law, seek your consent.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or by email, and update the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
14. Governing law
This Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Addendum: Website and beta waitlist
This addendum extends the Policy to the public website at hobbystreak.co.uk and the Hobby Streak beta waitlist. Hobby Streak Ltd remains the data controller. Company No. 17474149. Registered office: 32 Cusance Way, Trowbridge, United Kingdom, BA14 7HZ.
Beta waitlist
When you join the waitlist we collect:
- Your email address (required)
- Your preferred platform — iOS, Android, or both (optional)
We use this information to send beta-related updates and invitations, including a welcome email after you sign up, and to understand roughly which platforms people are interested in. The lawful basis is our legitimate interests in running the beta programme and communicating with people who asked to join.
Sign-up details are stored in our waitlist database. When someone joins, a notification with their email and platform preference is also sent to an internal operations channel so the team can see new sign-ups. A copy of the welcome email may be sent to the team for delivery monitoring. We do not sell waitlist data.
You can ask to be removed from the list at any time by emailing privacy@hobbystreak.co.uk or hello@hobbystreak.co.uk.
We keep waitlist details until you ask us to remove them, or until we no longer need them for the beta programme.
Website cookies and analytics
On public pages of this website we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site — for example which pages are viewed, how people interact with the pages, and high-level device or browser information. We use this to improve the website. We do not sell this analytics data.
Clarity may set cookies or similar technologies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and Microsoft provides opt-out options for Clarity. Some processing by Microsoft may take place outside the United Kingdom.
Website hosting and outbound email for the waitlist run on our hosting and mail setup. For more about Clarity, see Microsoft’s documentation for Clarity. Website analytics are also summarised in our Terms of use.
